
Advanced Features in MS Word Creating and modifying templates Creating a Template in MS Word 1. Start with a New or Existing Document Open Word , and either: Create a new blank document , or Open an existing document you want to base your template on. 2. Set Up Styles and Formatting Go to the Home tab → use Styles (e.g., Heading 1, Title, Normal) for consistent formatting. Customize styles by right-clicking and selecting Modify . Add Themes : Design tab → Themes to set fonts, colors, and effects. 3. Insert Content Controls (for interactivity) Go to the Developer tab (enable it in Options if not visible): Use Rich Text or Plain Text Controls . Add Drop-down lists , Date Pickers , Check Boxes , etc. You can also group and lock sections to prevent accidental edits. 4. Insert Building Blocks Predefine content using: Quick Parts → Save text, fields, headers/footers. Create AutoText , Cover Pages , Tables , etc. 5. Set Document Properties File → Info → Properties : Add Author, Title, Subject, etc. Helps with searching and organizing documents. 6. Save as a Template File → Save As → choose location. Save as Word Template (.dotx) or Macro-Enabled
