Multivariate statistical analysis is a set of techniques used to analyze data that involves more than one variable at a time. Unlike univariate analysis (one variable) or bivariate analysis (two variables), multivariate analysis looks at how several variables interact or relate to each other simultaneously. Why Is It Useful? In real life, most phenomena are influenced by many factors at once. For example: In marketing, customer behavior may depend on age, income, location, and buying history. In healthcare, a patient’s health might be influenced by diet, exercise, genetics, and lifestyle. Multivariate analysis helps in: Finding patterns or relationships among variables Reducing complexity in large datasets Predicting outcomes Classifying objects or people into groups Key Types of Multivariate Analysis (Conceptually) Multiple Regression Used to predict a single outcome (e.g., sales) based on several input factors (e.g., advertising, price, season). Factor Analysis Identifies underlying factors or dimensions that explain patterns in large sets of variables (e.g., combining many survey questions into a few themes). Principal Component Analysis (PCA) Reduces the number of variables by creating new ones (components) that capture the most important information from the data.
